Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Relatree handles information when you use the Relatree iPhone app, visit relatree.app, or contact support. In this policy, “Relatree,” “we,” and “us” refer to the developer of the Relatree app.
Information the app handles
Your shared-tree content
The app handles the information you choose to add, such as display names, a tree name and style, partner colors, care completions, moments, reflections, dates, and invitation state.
iCloud and partner sharing
Relatree stores shared-tree data in your private Apple CloudKit database. When you invite a partner, Apple makes the records in that private share available to the invited participant. Your other iCloud data is not included in the share. Private CloudKit content is not visible to us through the developer portal.
Notifications
Reminder preferences and scheduled notifications are handled on your device. Relatree asks for notification permission only when you choose to enable reminders.
Purchases
Apple processes in-app purchases. Relatree checks Apple-provided purchase and entitlement information so it can unlock paid features, and keeps a local record of processed transaction identifiers to avoid handling the same purchase twice. We do not receive your payment-card details.
Support messages
If you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever information you choose to include. Please do not send private moments or active partner invitation links.
How information is used
Relatree uses information only to:
- save and display your tree, moments, and preferences;
- sync the shared tree across your Apple devices;
- share the tree with the partner you invite;
- schedule reminders you request;
- verify and restore App Store purchases; and
- answer support requests and improve reliability.
Sharing and service providers
Shared-tree content is available to the partner you explicitly invite. Apple provides iCloud, CloudKit, notification, and App Store purchase services, subject to Apple’s own terms and privacy practices.
Relatree does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not sell or rent personal information.
The website
The public Relatree website does not offer accounts or collect email addresses, and it does not use analytics, advertising cookies, or tracking pixels. If hosting infrastructure produces short-lived security or access logs, those logs are used only to deliver and protect the site.
Your choices and deletion
- You can change or revoke notification permission in iOS Settings.
- In Relatree Settings, the person who created a tree can choose “Delete shared tree.” After two confirmations, Relatree permanently deletes that tree’s CloudKit zone, including partner information and saved moments, for both people. This cannot be undone.
- An invited partner can choose “Leave shared tree.” Leaving removes the local copy and ends that person’s access. The person who created the tree keeps the shared tree and its existing content.
- Deleting the Relatree app removes its local data from that device, but does not by itself delete a tree from iCloud. Use the in-app leave or delete control first when that is what you intend.
- Leaving or deleting a tree does not remove completed App Store purchases. Those remain associated with the Apple Account that made the purchase and can be restored.
- Relatree does not create a separate developer-run account, so there is no additional Relatree account to delete.
If you need help locating these controls, emailsupport@relatree.app.
Retention and security
App data remains on your device and in your iCloud account until you remove it. When an invited partner leaves, the owner retains the existing shared-tree content. When the tree owner completes permanent deletion, Relatree removes the shared CloudKit zone for both people. Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably needed to resolve the request, maintain security, and meet legal obligations.
Relatree relies on Apple platform protections and limits access to the shared tree to the people in its private iCloud share. No system can promise absolute security, so keep invitation links private and use a protected Apple Account.
Children
Relatree is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information through support, contact us so we can address it.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Relatree changes. The date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect where reasonably possible.
Questions or privacy requests can be sent tosupport@relatree.app.
